PORTLAND, OREGON — Game Face Sports Career Training Camp Karla Moreno and Katie Mauer have accepted account executive positions with the San Diego Padres. Both Mauer and Moreno will be responsible for season ticket and group sales.
Director of Ticket Sales Dawson Hughes made his first trip to Game Face headquarters with the purpose of interviewing qualified candidates. “We were able to interview a large pool of well-trained, enthusiastic candidates who understood the position for which they were applying. More importantly, the candidates all had a sense of the expectations and sales skills necessary to be successful. Katie and Karla have been great additions to our staff,” said Hughes.
Mauer completed her degree in marketing from Buena Vista University in Iowa. The summer before graduating she gained experience in sports working for the Omaha Royals Baseball Club. “The experience I had with the Royals solidified my resolve to want to work in the sports industry and the information and skills that I learned in my two weeks at Game Face gave me the courage to go after the job I wanted with the confidence that I would be able to succeed,” she said.
Moreno graduated from the University of Arizona with a bachelor’s degree in marketing as well. She completed two internships with professional sports teams in the area, and participated in the Sports Marketing Association for four years. “Game Face provided practical training beyond what I was taught in college and helped me acquire the tools necessary to work my way up in the sports industry,” said Moreno. She will utilize her bilingual ability by focusing on the Hispanic market for the Padres.
