PORTLAND, OREGON — Game Face Sports Career Training Camp attendees Beth Sousa and Josh Veilleux have been placed into full-time, account executive positions with Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG). Veilleux will focus on season tickets and package sales for all Los Angeles AEG events, which includes the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League along with events in tennis, boxing, cycling, and lacrosse. Sousa’s role will emphasize group sales for the Kings and the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer, as well as events at both the Home Depot Center and Staples Center.
Manager of Sales Alvin Chang, a 2002 graduate of the Training Camp, recently made a return trip to Game Face as a hiring manager for AEG. “The hiring process was ‘turnkey’ as Game Face was able to provide a good pool of qualified candidates to pull from in one afternoon. Since we were looking to fill two completely different positions, it was refreshing to see strong candidates well versed in sports marketing,” said Chang. “Coming out of the Training Camp myself, I knew that the candidates were going to be well-trained and ready to tackle the challenges ahead and would be able to contribute right away.”
Sousa played soccer and completed a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Delaware in 2002. Most recently she worked for a marketing firm in New Jersey, managing an international team of marketing representatives. An MLS team executive recommended she explore opportunities with Game Face in order to make the transition into the sports industry. “I’d been searching since graduation to find a career in sports. I’d had a couple interviews and posted my resume on the major online sports job boards but I saw few results from my efforts,” said Sousa. “I’m glad I listened to the experience of the MLS executive because within a week of concluding the Training Camp I had three excellent job offers!”
Veilleux played hockey at Franklin Pierce College in New Hampshire and received a marketing degree in 2001. After school he gained five years of experience in business to business sales in Boston. “Sales are the key to any business and I’ve worked hard to develop a skill set in that discipline,” said Veilleux. “I wanted to sharpen those skills to become a stronger asset to a sports organization, and Game Face provided me that opportunity.”
