PORTLAND, OREGON — Game Face Sports Career Training Camp Kevin Schildt has been placed as an account executive with the Dunedin Blue Jays of Minor League Baseball’s Florida State League. Along with selling, marketing, and promoting season tickets and group sales for the “High-A” affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, Schildt will sell tickets for Toronto’s spring training games at Knology Park. He also will sell corporate sponsorships and play a key operational role on game days.
Schildt is relocating from his hometown of Ronkonkoma, New York, to the sunnier climate of his new location near Tampa. He graduated from SUNY Cortland with a degree in sport management in 2005, and for the past year worked as an event coordinator at a restaurant.
In the two years following graduation, he sent numerous resumes and attended several networking events in an attempt to get in the door with a sports team. At one of these events he ran into a family acquaintance, who described how his sports career began with the New York Mets after attending the Sports Career Training Camp.
“What grabbed my attention was that the Training Camp would give me the opportunity to interview with sports teams,” said Schildt. “However, I also liked the fact that I would obtain training and education that would allow me to bring more to the table for the organization that hired me than the average sports job applicant. I definitely feel that the experience I gained at the Training Camp taught me skills that will help me be successful in the industry.”
