PORTLAND, OREGON — Game Face Sports Career Training Camp attendees Corey Norkin, Corey Baker, Craig Morency, and Adriane Willmer have been placed as season ticket and premium seating account executives with the Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball. These four Training Camp attendees have the unique opportunity to be part of the franchise’s first season ticket and premium sales staff, which is being developed in preparation for a $250 million stadium renovation project that will include the expansion of suites and premium seating at Kauffman Stadium.
Three members of the Royals management team made the trip from Kansas City to Portland to interview on site at the Sports Career Training Camp. “Establishing a top-flight sales force is absolutely critical to the success of our business over the next several years,” said Mark Tilson, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “And to do that, we turned to Game Face for help in identifying and hiring quality people. With their help, we are assembling a team with the skills and make-up that will allow us to achieve our goals moving forward.”
Norkin hails from New York and finished a degree in sport management from Towson University. Prior to the Training Camp he interned with D.C. United of MLS and spent a year helping start a company in Spain. “My prior attempts to get a job in sports didn’t produce the results I wanted, but immediately after completing the Training Camp I had options in front of me,” said Norkin. “It was an incredible two weeks and Game Face really gave me a leg up on everyone else wanting to work in sports.”
Morency completed his bachelor’s in business administration from the University of Maine. “The training combined with real-world practice was invaluable in my development and will be the key to my success in my dream industry,” he said.
Willmer, originally from Ontario, Canada, played softball for Kutztown University in Pennsylvania and graduated with a degree in sport and leisure studies. “This is exactly what I needed to get my career off the ground!” she said.
Baker grew up in Ohio and received a degree in journalism from Pennsylvania State University. “The Training Camp opened up doors that would have been closed to me if I didn’t come,” he said.
All four graduates began working for the Royals in time to finish the 2007 campaign, and will also be focusing on planning and preparing for 2008.
