Successful Sports Job Seeker Michael SmithPORTLAND, OREGON — Game Face Training Camp attendee Michael Smith was placed into a full-time inside sales position with D.C. United of Major League Soccer, and within a few weeks Smith was promoted into a corporate liaison position selling sponsorship, suites, and premium seating. Local to the area, he joins seven other Training Camp attendees in promoting, marketing, and selling soccer in the nation’s capital.

Smith enters the industry with a background of nine years of military experience, including deployment overseas, and five years in mortgage sales. “Since the age of 16 my goal has been to work for a sports franchise in the D.C. Metro area,” said Smith. “Over the past few years I have gathered as much literature on the subject of sports management as I could. I’ve perused countless articles and books, and have even taken a few online classes related to sports business. It wasn’t until I pulled myself away from every day life to go through the Sports Career Training Camp that I developed the skill set necessary to get my break.”
