PORTLAND, OREGON —Game Face/Northwood University practicum attendee Colleen Cooke has been placed into a full-time position with Major League Baseball’s Toronto Blue Jays. She joins seven Training Camp attendees on staff and will be responsible for selling, marketing, and promoting the Blue Jays.
Game Face recently teamed with the Entertainment, Sport, and Promotion Management Department of Northwood University—Michigan to develop a practicum for the program’s students, based on Game Face’s renowned Sports Career Training Camp program. Cooke’s completion of the program put her in a unique position to interview and be hired by the Blue Jays. “The timing of the practicum was perfect and because it was being conducted at the Northwood campus, I knew that participating might be my only chance to receive the Game Face training and have access to their network of clients in sports,” said Cooke. “The specific sales and marketing skills I developed through the practicum complemented the knowledge and work ethic I gained through Northwood and really strengthened my confidence and resolve to work in the business of sports.”
Originally from Ontario, Canada, Cooke graduated with a bachelor’s degree in May of this year with a dual major of entertainment, sport, and promotions management and business management. She played softball for Northwood and represented team Canada’s women’s baseball team in 2004.
